Learn how to stay well-hydrated with an ostomy

In this video, I share my tips on how to make sure your body gets the fluids it needs.

Avoiding dehydration can be challenging for everyone – but especially for those who have a stoma. How do we stay well-hydrated when we’re missing part of our bowel?

You may have questions about hydration, like I did, such as: How much fluid should I drink? What about when I’m traveling, or exercising? What if I don’t like plain water? How can I avoid getting dehydrated if I drink alcohol? What are the signs of being well-hydrated?

I learned some things by trial and error, as well as from nutritionists and my surgeon. I’ve partnered with Hollister so I could share my hydration tips with you.

I always recommend figuring out the minimum amount of fluid you should be drinking every day, and then making sure to hit or exceed that goal. Not only will that help you stay hydrated, but it will also keep things flowing through your digestive system and keep your skin healthy and glowing.
